Algebra

Jim and Sarah who are hiking in wilderness, decide to leave their tent and walk around a lake. They start going in the opposite directions. Jim hikes at the rate of 3 miles per hour. Sarah hikes at the rate of 2 miles per hour. The perimeter of the lake is 10 miles. How long will it be before they meet?

There are some random factors here...

Why did Jim and Sarah leave the tent and walk in opposite directions?

The unknown is what happened in the tent?

In two hours when they meet, what is going to happen then?

Will Jim apologize to Sarah, or will he add his resentment that he had to walk two extra miles to meet her...?

What does this equation say about how sometimes you travel farther than your parnter just to meet at all, there is no half way when you polarize your companion. You travel around the circle until you meet again. You may have to move faster and longer to meet your slower and shorter companion.
